I am a software engineer with a passion for modern technologies, IoT, and startups. The focus of my work is to build elegant and robust software with a strong visual identity. With over five years of experience in both mobile and web development, I know a thing or two on how to develop a mobile app or build a scalable backend. I can also speak to databases, make servers do stuff and set up a continuous deployment pipeline. I am a pragmatic perfectionist, problem solver and like being well organized. Experimenting with new technologies is what gets me excited the most.
Currently, I work as an independent Prototyping software engineer at imec, an R&D and innovation hub in nanoelectronics and digital technologies. Before I worked at In The Pocket, a leading Digital Product Studio in Belgium where I contributed to a number of high-visible digital products, first as a developer later as an architect.
I am based in Gent (Belgium), but the world is my oyster. One of the things I really enjoy is having good food over a good conversation. I have a broad range of interests and know for a fact that the future is going to be more exciting than ever. Occasionally I also like to do some public speaking.
In 2012, I obtained a Master in Computer Science from the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB), Belgium. During my master's I studied as an exchange student at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (EPFL) in Lausanne, Switzerland. Most of my degree has been marked by my interest in distributed, mobile paradigms and algorithms. Therefore, situated in the context of mobile ad-hoc networks, my master's thesis is titled as `Managing the Object Soup in Ambient-Oriented Applications'.
